10/16/2005 Kade is growing and changing so fast we don’t know what to do. He is almost 22 months. He is running and getting into everything. He has even started testing our limits, which amazes me for such a young child. He is definitely talking more but that doesn’t mean we can necessarily understand him. Words we can make out are belly button, up, all done, cheese, exercise, uh-oh, grandpa, grandma, please, thank you, Zach, Brennan, breakfast, just to name a few. We all get very frustrated when we can’t figure out each other’s language. :-) Kade loves to be outside. Good thing we live in CO and have lots of sunny days. His favorite toys are cars, trucks, trains, anything he can push and books. He is very inquisitive and has to figure everything out. He reminds me of his dad.

We keep busy with a music group once a week and a craft class once a month. We also see our friends a couple times a week either at their house or at the park or something along those lines. I am hoping to enroll him in gymnastics soon. It is just a matter of getting my act together. Kade loves kids so I think it is important to get him that interaction. He is a bit shy but I think that is just his own personality. Once he has assessed the situation he gets right in there and holds his own. Again, a lot like his father.

I think he is going to be a great big brother. He has really taken an interest in Laura, Megan’s baby sister. I guess he helped give her a bath the other night when he was over there and just loved it. He always wants to touch her and kiss her. It is very cute. I just hope he feels the same way when it is his baby sister or brother. Who knows, a lot can change in 6 months. After all he will be in the middle of his terrible twos.

11/05/2004 Will come back later and do better...but the latest. Kade has taken his first swim lessons, began crawling, now has 4 teeth (2 upper & 2 lower) and is pulling himself up to a standing position. He has been high altitude camping (~8000 ft), traveled to FL during a hurricane (Francis), traveled to NM about 3 or 4 times courtesy of my job, had his first haircut, was a cow for his first halloween and traveled back to CT to see all the Cavagnaro and Klingers! All in all, it has been a very hectic couple of months! And oh yeah, he got the flu (with mom and dad too) for the first time...it was wonderful.

I will leave the rest up to Jen sometime....laters!

7/29/2004 OK, so I know that it has been a long time and I am sorry about that. A lot has been happening around the Cavagnaro household. Most of which has been Rob being on the road for work. I was in NM and CA for almost the entire month of July. Fortunately I was able to get Jen and Kade to come down to NM for 2 weeks. Then they stayed an additional week while I went out to CA. Now that is all behid us and we are settling back into our "normal" routine in CO...thank GOD!

Kade is doing awesome! he has learned so much over te past few months. He is now sitting up on his own and really aware of his surroundings. We can now sit him in the living room and he will play by himself for a while iving mommy a much needed break (although its still pretty short). He is eating solids like a champ and has tried more stuff than I think that I have. He has even had rudebaga (I don't even know how to spell it)!! He has also been swimming a couple of times and has semi regular pool dates with Megan - Joe and Ellen's daughter. He is laughing up a storm and has officially figured out how to put his toes into his mouth...mommy was not such a big fan of that one....daddy thought it was a good sign...he must be smart! He also figured out how to shake his head both for no and yes. He is also on a kick lately where he likes to blow bubbles...its really funny! He is not crawling yet...and Jen and I have decided that he is just too lazy to care about rolling or crawling.

I am sure that I have missed a whole bunch of things...but the most important thing of all is that both mommy and Kade are doing really well. Both are healthy and for the most part happy (mommy is still not completely over daddy being on business for an entire month). I hope that you all enjoy the new pictures as much as I know that our mothers will!

4/14/2004 So we have been super busy lately. First Mike, Jessica, CJ and Mia Cangemi visited CO last week. It was a very last minute trip, but was super!!! We had so much fun. It was a true challenge having 3 kids under 2 years old in the same house! unfortunately CJ came down with a bad cold and had to go to the hospital his last day here :-(

Then Kade decided to get in on the action after the Cangemi's left getting a really bad cold. It caused him to wake up lots during the evening since he had trouble breathing through the drainage. Good news is that he is getting better every day! He finally slept through the night again last night...a true blessing as Jen and I were rapidly losing our minds!

Then on Thursday, Kade took his first airplane trip ever! We went down to Albuquerque to celebrate Kylie's 1st birthday and also to spend Eadter with the Hiners. It was a great time and we all had a lot of fun. It was especially great to see Kylie so much...she is really growing fast though. Every time we see her she looks so much like a little person and not a baby anymore.

And then there is the big news. First, Kade is now officially in the crib! I am not sure what all our friends are going to pick on me for now that the crib is done...I am sure that they will find something :-) Then there is the really big news... Kade rolled over for the first time tonight!!! He actually did it about 5 or 6 times...once he figured it out there was not stopping him! Both Jen and I were so excited! Unfortunately, now we can not leave him anywhere alone....oh well it is still great progress! I was able to capture it on video...check it out. The file is about 1.3M so it might take a little time on dial-up.

Oh yeah, I think it was 2 days ago that Jen said that Kade finally had his first true laugh. She will have to tell you all the details. I know that he has been really close a bunch of times lately, but it really ends up sounding more like a squeak than anything else.

3/23/2004 Will get to this tomorrow.

3/9/2004 Kade is a healthy, happy baby. Today he weighed 14lbs 10oz, I guess he is getting enough to eat. He is growing like a weed. He is already in 3-6 month clothes and is in size 2 diapers. It makes me a little sad that he is growing so fast. It seems just like yesterday that he was a tiny (well tiny compared to now) infant that barely knew how to eat. Now he is so observant and can definitely see further. He will follow you around the room, a big milestone for an 11 week old. He also loves the Price is Right (lots of colors and action). He has also discovered his voice and we make a new sound about once a week. I wish you all could hear him talk. He has such big stories to tell with lots of detail, and his facial expressions...they are one in a million. He loves to laugh, sing and interact with mommy and daddy. He also loves his duck and his bouncy seat with the fun fish. He is even on a little bit of a schedule, thank goodness for my sake. He is really precious and I love to just hold him and give him lots of kisses. Daddy likes to play with him and give him lots of kisses. He is a very loved and slightly spoiled baby.

Kade is a good baby except when it was daddy's birthday. He decided that would be a good day to be fussy. We did get to take Rob out to lunch for his birthday but had to get take out for dinner. Rob originally wanted to try a steak house in town. He finally got to open his gifts after Kade went to bed. Poor Rob, he had a rough day at work and then came home to crying Kade. Oh well, I guess every birthday can't be perfect. I bet it will at least be one to remember.

Not much else to report. Hope everyone is doing well.

3/8/2004 Not tonight...you got pictures so get off my back! Must get sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

2/17/2004 Well, All the family was in town this last weekend to help celebrate Kade's Baptism. It was a great event with lots of fun! First to arrive was Grandma Judy, Aunt CC and her boyfriend Mike. Then Grandpa Pete arrived with his girlfriend Cindy. Then Uncle Kenny showed up with his daughter Kylie. Then grandma Regina and grandpa Russle brought all of Kenny's stuff (Ken flew with Kylie). The next day greatgrandparents Fay and Rocky arrived with RaLynn. Then at the baptism Helen, Pam, Fred, Ryan, Anna and Trevor joined in on the fun. Jens Aunt Linda also showed up with her son Darren and his gorlfriend Moira. Little Issac (Jen's cousin) also made the trip up from Denver for the special occasion. I think that's everyone who was at the service. Then at the gathering after the Baptism we were joined by our neigbors and friends Karen and Cliff, Chris and Amy, Joe and Ellen with their daughter Megan, Karen and John with their sons Pete and Tom. So I think that brings the total up to 36 people who were here to help Kade celebrate his special day! A true blessing to have so many friends and family be able to attend!

The service was very nice and the after party went very well - although a little stressful on mom and dad to pull together! Thankfully Chris and Amy came early and helped to set up all the food and stuff...a great help!!!

On Saturday we tried to get Kylie and Kade's pictures taken together at a photographers, but that didn't really work out all that well since Kylie wanted to poke at Kade's head the whole time. We did get some good pictures of them individually though - I just can't put them up since I didn't take the pictures...copyrighting and all.

Other than that not much has happened...just a lot of visiting and the like. Kade did have his first shots today and he did very well. He really didn't cry for all that long and alltogether I was impressed with the results...a lot better than I was anticipating. He did get weighed and measured again and I am proud to say that he is a biscuit shy of 13 lbs now and nearly 24 inches long! He really is growing like a weed...and eating like a pig too! Oh well, off to dinner...just wanted to get some stuff up quickly after the Baptism for all to see....

2/04/2004 First let me appologize for the long delay in getting updates to the website. Unfortunately I came down with something that knocked me out for a week plus - cold with severe sore throat. Anyway enough with the excueses...

Now, let's see what has happened since the last update...First, lets talk weight. Well, Kade is officially a porker. He is now up over 11 lbs. convincingly at 11lbs 6oz as of yesterday! I have pulled together a chart with his weights/lengths and lengths and stuck is overe here. Kade also had some more visitors last Sunday (25th). Jen's relatives Pam, Fred, Trevor and Helen all came over to drop off a gift for Kade and visit a little. I have some pics of the visit in the pic section. Then on Monday Kade celebrated his first month birthday! To be honest I can not remember what we did...maybe Jen can pick up the details. Then a biggie, on Friday the 30th Kade had his first real smile. Jen saw it and said that not only did he smile but his eyes also changed too...which I guess is the difference between a real smile and gas (thats what she says so take it up with her). Then the real biggie...on Sunday Feb 1 Kade got to see his first super bowl. Unfortunately he cried for almost the entire first half. Despite repeatedly telling him that the Giants would be back in the hunt next year...it just didn't seem to console him. As you can tell, he was pretty torn up to not see Kerry Collins on the field playing in the big game!!! Then on the 3rd Jen says that he started blowing bubbles. He also had his first tears somewhere in there too. It was during one of our baths. The good news is that he is slowly getting used to the bath and not turning purple immediately upon entering the water. In fact I thought that we were going to get all the way through our bath tonight without a crying fit...but unfortunately he lost it at the very end. Oh well.

Other than that, things overall are getting much better around the Cavagnaro household. Kade is now getting one bottle a day (to let Jen have some sleep). Unfortunately for me its the feeding at 6am. Oh well, Kade and I have fun even though we would both rather be sleeping. We are getting really excited about the upcoming Baptism. It is going to be great to have so many friends and family in the area with us. We even have confimation that Kenny will be coming up and bringing Kylie. This is wonderful news as the two have never met yet! Anyway, things are going well and it has been snowing more so everything feels better...snow just makes things better! And for those who are tracking...the crib sides are complete. Now all I have is the head and foot ends. Hopefully I will get a warm day so I can work in the garage soon becuase Kade will be out of his bassanett(sp) all too quickly at this rate. Hope all is well in your world.

1/21/2004 People are starting to get TIRED around the Cavagnaro house this week. With Grandma C leaving to head back to CT things got pretty difficult pretty fast! Jen and I are managing ok, just a little adjusting had to be done...especially on my part since I need to get up at 6 in the morning now...as opposed to waking up at 7:30! Jen also is having to deal with the loss of Judy covering the morning shift...so she is trying to catch more naps in the afternoon to compensate.

Not much to report this week. Just more growing on Kade's part. Kade has made a few trips this week. He got to go out for chinese food for the first time, go to Sam's club and go down to Denver twice...once to Babies-R-Us and once to a wedding dress shop to give some dressing pointers to Amy as she prepares for her wedding.

1/16/2004 Well, again not much is new. Just the same old same old routine. Our neighbors Karen and Cliff were nice enough to cook us a dinner this week and bring it by. It was really good food (especially since there was no cooking or cleaning involved) and it was great for them to finaly get to meet Kade.

Grandma C is still working on getting hre fill of Kade. I think that she could do this for a long time! Its amazing to see how she can just hold him all day long. I think everyone just wants to know whats going through Kade's mind though, so it would really help if he could just start talking :-) Anyway, that's about it...nothing too exciting.

1/11/2004 OK, so the hostilities are growing. Now that grandma C is here I thought I could slow down on the updates to the website...but the email response has been overwhelming. So I will continue to post pics and updates :-)

So a few days ago two of our friends Ellen and Joe visited with their new daugther Megan. Joe and Ellen were in our birthing classes and Megan was born 3 days before Kade. Megan and Kade got along just great...papa Joe was already a little nervous since Kade (A boy) was already in the same bed as his daughter :-))

Then Grandpa Russ arrived and got to visit with Kade for the first time. Kade was still in the NICU when Russ had to go back to Abq on his last visit. Then on Thursday, Grandma Judy finally arrived. She wasted no time in cornering all of Kade's time :-) She has now been peed on and pooped on so she has officially been broken in by Kade! She is loving her time with Kade and is having flashbacks to our childhood. Its great to hear all the stories as they come back to both her and Regina.

Kade also got another bath - this his first in the kiddie tub now that his umb cord has fallen off. He liked this one better because he could just lay back and chill in the water. He was still able to pee on Rob while he was in the bath. Pretty impressive for the little guy...it just kind of nuck over the edge of the tub and got me right between the numbers! Oh well, I guess we are safe nowhere!

1/6/2004 Gave Kade his first bath last night. It was an interesting experience. He basically cried through the entire ordeal except the part where we had his head under the running water. He really liked that. There are some pics showing the experience (and yes we are treating te diaper rash).

Amy Reitz also stopped by today and spent the better part of the day visiting with Regina, Jen and Kade. The girls had a great time. Chris (Amy's fiancee) was nice enough to send with Amy 3 froze dinners! That was so great! Can't wait to try his chicken gumbo and enchiladas!

Other that not much has changed. Kade is still growing like a weed. We took him to the clinic and weighed him Sunday. He was up to 9lbs 5ozs!!! He has already gained one solid pound since birth! I guess that's good. I am already starting to talk to the NFL scouts because at this rate I know that he will be a lineman. Later...

1/4/2004 Not much news...just a lot more poopie diapers and no sleep. Kade is starting to find a routine even though it involves a lot of being awake in the middle of the night. We have discovered that he does like to be on his tummy more than on his back. We think that this is due to an upset stomach. Since we are not supposed to leave him on his tummy (SIDS and all) we are having him sleep on our chests in the recliner. It seems to be working well and it gives daddy a reason to just hang out and watch the football games! Thank goodness its playoff time. To get us though the daytime we have joined Netflix…since daddy can’t watch soaps all day without losing his mind. Hopefully I can get to watch all the movies we have wanted to see before it gets to the point where a 2 hr stretch is a pipe-dream.

1/2/2004 Baby weight update: Today we took Kade down to the clinic and got him weighed. As mentioned before his birth weight was 8 pounds 5 ounces. Upon release from the hospital he was already at 8 pounds 11 ounces and today he was 9 pounds 1 ounce after a feeding. I guess this is really good since babies don’t always reach their original birth weight for sometimes up to 2 weeks after. I guess this means that Jen and I can stop worrying about if he is eating enough.

Other than that, things are pretty slow around here just a lot of changing diapers and getting Kade to go to sleep (and getting peed on at 4am). We are finally starting to fall into a routine which is definitely making things a little easier. I think that we are truly lucky so far because he really fusses very little. The only things that he really does not like are changing the diaper, putting on new cloths and getting his temperature taken…all pretty standard stuff I am told. Oh well, off to check on the turkey (not Kade) since I am smoking a turkey for dinner tonight in my new electric smoker. We’ll see how this turns out…

12/31/2003 All is well in the Cavagnaro house! Both Jen and Kade have been given a clean bill of health and are now both safely at home! Thanks to all who were concerned and called or sent flowers.

I guess now the madness can officially begin. In his first hour as a member at 3921 Sunstone Way he managed to fill his britches 3 times! Not too bad :-O!!! It was a little frantic as the three of us (Jen, Regina and myself) were trying to figure out how to sterilize bottles, get the breast pump working, change Kade (several times) and get the diaper Genie working all at the same time. We finally managed to get through it though and finally after a little confusion, Kade finally settled down for a nap. Just in time for another feeding, so we needed to wake him back up. Oh boy, this could get interesting.

Anyway, we are all glad to be home and also grateful to have some helping hands around the house. RaLynn (Jen's Aunt) was here for the first few days while Kade was in the hospital, Regina (Jen's mother) has been here all along and Russ (Jen's father) was also here but had to leave a few days ago to go home and take care of business. Rhonda (Jen's Aunt) will be here tonight - she was in Rifle for the holidays - with her son Cory (so I guess I will turn into a babysitter tonight as well. Then in a week my mom Judy will be coming out to take Regina's place! I thank God every day that we have all these helping hands because Jen and I feel like we are all thumbs lately. At least I know how to pick up a baby with confidence now...a real step forward.

It will most definitely be a wonderful New Years Eve in the casa la Cavagnaro this year. I hope that all of you find similar happiness as we begin 2004!

12/30/2003 Well, unfortunately Kade will be staying in the hospital yet another night tonight. His breathing is still not completely stable yet which has the doctors a little timid to send him home just yet. Hopefully tomorrow! The good news is that he is eating very well. No major issues there. He is also completely off of the antibiotics/IV and his jaundice is also staying in check (not quite going away yet). A tough little journey thus far for Kade.

As for Jen she is doing very well. She was discharged last night and was able to go out to breakfast with us this morning. I think she felt even more sad being away from the hospital without Kade though :-( Anyway, that's the latest as of this afternoon. I am heading back to the hospital shortly to see how things are progressing.

12/28/2003 Not too much to report today...just a lot of sleeping and eating for both Jen and Kade. Kade is still having resp issues and so we are going to get a bunch more tests done on Monday. Hopefully with any luck they will come out good so he can come home soon. Jen is doing very well and got her staples removed today. She is planned to be released from the hospital tomorrow but if Kade does not leave than I doubt that she will either since she is breastfeeding. Oh well, we'll see. I have posted some new pictures on the website from mainly today. If anyone wants full res images for printing just give us an email (link is up in the righthand corner) and I will shoot them off as soon as possible. Hope you enjoy.

12/27/2003 Well, this is Rob and I just raced home to get some pics of Kade up onto the website for everyone to see! The delivery was complicated but everything turned out wonderfully. Jen is recovering quickly and the baby is in no immediate danger. Unfortunately he is having some breathing issues at the moment so we don't get to keep him in our room. He is currently in the "special" baby nursery with an IV and O2. He still has some stuff in his lungs which we are hoping will get cleared up in the next few days. We truly are blessed to live in such a great area with an incredible hospital and medical resources. Even when things were going a little funny Jen and I were still both thought of first and they really went out of their way to make sure that we understood what was happening and that we were ok with the decisions.

Kade is wonderful though and Jen and I have been filled with the pride of being parents! Now I really understand what my parents went though...I guess you really don't know until you have been there. I can just stand and look at Kade for hours and wonder where the time has gone!!!

Well...its back to the hospital to see Jen and Kade. Hope everyone is well and I promise to get more pictures on the web as soon as possible. Love to all, Jen and Rob.

Week 39: Hello All!. Well no baby yet! Doctor checked me again today and said that the outside of my cervix was opening up but not the inside. So he said I am ready whenever the little one is ready. Baby is still head down but was laying with his back against my back today. His heartbeat is 128, which I guess is okay. My weight was down a little bit which means I am finally losing some of this water. My blood pressure was good...so now we just wait some more. I am going to have to stop thinking about it or I really will go crazy. As our doctor says, a watched pot never boils. :0) Please just keep your fingers crossed that he doesn't come on the 24 or 25. Hope you all are doing well. We are getting excited for the holidays, my parents to come visit and of course the arrival of our son. Love to all, Jen

Week 38: Well not much to tell really. My doctor did finally check my cervix and it has loosened a tiny little bit but nothing to get excited about. To be honest I am glad he hasn't checked it more and hope he doesn't do it again any time soon. It DOES NOT feel good. Baby was head down on my left side today. Dr. Coburn showed me how to feel all his body parts. So I felt his head, shoulder, butt and feet today. It was pretty cool. I mean I had been feeling things but not knowing what was what. I think mainly feet is what I have been feeling. His heartbeat was 144, my blood pressure was good, swelling is still not so good. I am trying to drink a lot of water though and find time to get my feet above my heart. That is the really hard part. Especially since I am trying to keep busy and not think about how much longer until he comes. So nothing exciting really. I guess we will just keep waiting. Two weeks exactly until he is due...seems like forever yet feels like tomorrow. Miss and love you all, Jen

Week 37: Well nothing exciting to tell you really. My blood pressure was a little high and I am getting more swollen in the feet, hands and face. So I have been instructed to drink lots of water and when I am sitting down sit with my feet above my heart. My blood pressure was a lot better when I was lying down. Nothing to freak out about just something to watch. His heartbeat was good, 144, so he must be pretty happy in there. We didn't get measured or anything so nothing to tell you there. It is all about the waiting now. I have to admit I am a bit cranky these days. Not sure why, I just am. I think it is the not knowing that is making me crazy. So I spend my days trying to keep busy and think about anything else. The other good news is that we have four names picked out. So our son will have a name as soon as he arrives. That is a huge weight off the shoulders unless of course he doesn't look like any of the names we have picked out. :0) Hope you all are doing well. We sure have been thinking about you all lots and wish you were closer. Love, Jen

Week 33: Hello All, Just a quick note to tell you what is going on with us and the baby. We had some fun events happen last night so thought I would share while I can still remember them. :0) Rob got to hear his heartbeat through my belly for the first time last night. It was really cool. I think he listened to my belly for 30 min. He said you could also hear him when he was turning. The best part was when he kicked Rob right in the cheek. It was funny! It was also the first time I actually felt some kind of body part. I just had my hand resting on my belly holding a book and I felt this hard thing stick out of my tummy. It TOTALLY freaked me out. It is kind of creepy to have things coming out of your belly. :0) Rob was laughing so hard cuz I like threw my book down and was kind of grossed out. I guess we will get to experience more of that in these last weeks. I told Rob that I want another ultrasound cuz I want to see what is going on in there. It just doesn't seem fair that you can't look in when you want to.

We have our 8 mo. check up tomorrow and we start our birthing class, FINALLY. I am excited for the class because we have so many questions. So hopefully I will feel better after we go. It is coming awfully fast that is for sure. The nursery is painted and looks great. I will send pictures later this afternoon. I even have an amazing closet organizer that Rob built. I have more space then I know what to do with. :0) I LOVE IT! I guess I am finally starting to feel at peace that things are as done as they can be. Now all we can do is wait it out. That part kind of sucks. :0)

I am feeling...pregnant - tired, uncomfortable, not really wanting to eat cuz nothing sounds or tastes good, a bit nauseous every now and then, feel like I look like a beached whale, anxious for it to be over with but guilty cuz I should be "enjoying" this time.

Baby is feeling...active. He moves a lot and squishes everything. I hate when he is high and pushing into my ribs the most. I am guessing he is getting pretty cramped in there though. We will see how he is doing tomorrow at our check up.

I want Rob and I to take one last picture together before he comes so will hopefully do that soon and get it sent out. I wanted to send it as our holiday card but Rob is not buying into that idea very easily. :0) I will send you something though when I can. So you can verify the beached whale comment. :0)

Hello All, Just a quick note to tell you that for the most part my appt. this morning went well. Heartbeat is good and he is measuring in at 32cm. A little small but nothing to worry about. It most likely means he will weigh more like 7lbs than 10lbs. :0) Unfortunately I do have to have an ultrasound to see if I may have gall stones. My side pain has my doctor a little worried especially after he felt my liver today. So if I do then we will try to deal with it through diet first since they do not like to operate on pregnant women. If that doesn't work then they will have to go in and get them. Ultrasound is next Tues. morning so we will see what happens. The good part about it all is that we will get to see him again. I can't wait for that! The other cool thing that happened today was that Rob got to actually feel his head and shoulder and butt. This morning he was head down and spine running along the left side of my belly, my left that is, and his butt was up by my ribs. It was pretty cool. He tends to favor my left which makes me worry that I may have gall stones and it is not just baby squishing me. Who knows though. I guess we will just have to wait and see. Will let you know how my tests all come back. Love to all, Jen
